The UEFA EURO 2016 bid process will be concluded in Geneva, Switzerland on Friday when the host association will be announced after the final presentations of the three candidates followed by a deliberation and voting of the UEFA Executive Committee and announced on Friday at a ceremony in Geneva Switzerland.
The host association will be named by the UEFA president at an announcement ceremony taking place from 13.00CET at the Espace Hippomène in Geneva.
The three candidates to host UEFA EURO 2016 – Turkey, Italy and France – will make the final formal presentations of their bids to the UEFA Executive Committee.
The final presentations will run from 09.30 and according to the order of a draw made previously, the Turkish Football Federation will be the first to start and will be followed by Italy and France respectively. Each candidate will have 30 minutes for their final presentation.
In Turkey’s 30 minutes, TFF President Mahmut Özgener will be one of the speakers who will address the UEFA Executives. Meanwhile a movie directed by Sinan Çetin will put forth the remarkable attributes of our country. The final presentation of Turkey will be moderated by Defne Samyeli.
Once the presentations are made, the UEFA Executive Committee will gather, from 11.45, to deliberate and vote. In accordance with the UEFA European Football Championship 2014–16 bid regulations, UEFA president Michel Platini (France), UEFA first vice-president Şenes Erzik (Turkey) and UEFA Executive Committee member Giancarlo Abete (Italy) will not be entitled to participate in the deliberation and voting process.
Consequently, and according to the Statutes of UEFA, the second vice-president Geoffrey Thompson (England) will be chair of the meeting and will be allowed to vote together with the other 12 members of the Executive Committee.
The host nation of UEFA EURO 2016 will be announced by UEFA President Michel Platini at the awarding ceremony starting at 13.00 (CET), right after voting process.
